I am having trouble burning cds using wmp 9
it will only burn to a cdrw if i try to burn to cdr it gives
    me this error message
0xC00D11AB: Cannot copy files to recordable disc
Windows Media Player cannot copy the selected files to the CD-R or CD-RW disc. To fix the problem, do one or more of the following:

Clean the disc and ensure that it is not damaged.
Select a slower recording (write) speed.
Try a different brand of CD-R or CD-RW disc.
    Quit other programs.

I have tried all the advice given and still the same problem
ms help has no infomation on this error code.
the same problem applies when using the nti software that came with my burner records to cdrw but not to cdr
I have xp pro and was wondering if there was some sort of write protection or something similar thats needs turning on/off ?

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR COMPUTER AND ITS SOFTWARE OR HARDWARE!

I REPEAT, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG!!

The problem is with the rewriteable CD you are using. You've done a full erase on the CD. Don't ever do that. Always go for the quick erase option. After you full erase a CD it's uselless. I don't know why that is but it happens.

I tried one of my ruined CD's just now and got the same error message you did. I went through 5 CD's before I realized what was happening.

From now on when you want to re-use a CD-RW use the quick erase option and everything will be fine.;)

@ C.A. The problem is not CDRW my comp will burn to them any file or format,
It is CDR the comp will not burn to.
thanx for the erasing tip though.

@ robo I can't get in to the link you posted it just sends me to a love letter from Kodo, maybe admin can help?

This problem first started when I tried to burn
a playlist of about 15 songs which are stored on my HD to audio cd it simply would not record to CDR.
I have all the updates for XP and Media player
The drivers for my burner are the best according to xp and the drive manufacturers
it also happens using burning software
record to CDRW but not to CDR
It does not matter what type of media I try to burn Audio, mp3, data or even a completly original document ( a letter typed in notepad and saved as a txt file) it will not burn to CDR
