Some sites seem to require a license in order to view their videos. (TBS.com has videos that require this).

When I click on a WMV link, I am prompted as to whether or not I wish to continue to acquire a required license. If I click 'YES', the box goes blank and nothing further happens. I have tried changing the setting in Windows Media Player, Tools, Options, Privacy, "acquire license automatically for protected content" but that just prevents the 'license acquisition' box from appearing.

I have requested help from many sources but nothing yet.

    Any ideas?

If I go to TBS.com and play a video it also asks for permission to go and get a license from tbs.com which was granted automatic to me. I would check my windows media player for being the most current release. Also check to see if your browser is set to adept all cookies as they seem to use several of them.
