Wohoo! Bonus! Bonus!

Very recently, the team of tech support agents I'm with at work went from 6 to 4. One of the six got pregnant, so she is currently on maternity leave. Not something we didn't see coming, so we were all cool with that and expecting it, and it's not a big deal. But then one of the remaining five gets himself fired. Seriously fired, he was made to leave nearly two hours before his shift was over... very bad on a day when we were already short-handed.

The following day, my supervisor comes up to my desk, stone faced and grim, and says, "Meet me in conference room X, I need to talk to you"

Oh crap :eek

Turns out, what he wanted to tell me was, in the annual review to see if my pay was below market average, it was discovered that it was not. (Our employer never increases pay unless you are below market average or get promoted... not even cost of living adjustments.) He talked the department manager into giving me a raise anyway, because he thinks I deserve it. :celebrate I'm also getting my 6-month incentive bonus paid out on my next paycheck, the full 100% pay-out... making next paycheck more than twice its usual size.

I am SO buying myself a present! :major

My wife once asked me if it would bother me when she makes more money then I do (which she will soon - she gets better raises then I do . . . not to mention the woman has a master's degree!). I told her with a solemn face I'd cry all the way to the bank :-D

I just don't get why that would bother anyone . . . more money = more toys for me!
