Won't Boot Up

    All of a sudden, my HP notebook won't boot. No recent upgrades to HW/SW.

    99 times out of 100, I get a blank screen. Only the power light and fan seem to be operational. On the 100th try, the notebook will boot up to XP, and then freeze up before I can backup some files.

    I can't even get to the BIOS to have it boot from CD/Floopy. The notebook is 2.5 years old, and I replaced the HD last summer.

    Thoughts?
