Cool, glad I didn't go through the last slow, painful upgrade while I was still on dial-up now :)

Bad week. Itunes is being accused of installing Malware, Quicktime is accused of exploits.

This means Vista should be released any minute now.

Followed by years of Service Packs and patches.

Nah, 10.5 will be the next major release. This is just a milestone update, or service pack. Whatever they did, it kicks major arse. I was having somewhat sluggish browsing on all web browsers ever since I got this Mac. Now its very, very quick.

Hope you didn't fall for this hoax message circulating around, with the same exact words, but different posters.

Considering iTunes is a huge cash cow for Apple, I can't think of one reason why they would install Spyware?

I don't think whoever posted that has ulterior motives, but rather that they are ignorant.

Qttask.exe is not Spyware, it's a tray icon that simplifies accessibility.

Typical Mac user, point out where Mac is safe, ignore the 8 bugs patched in Quicktime. :)

I like Macs, I dont like their false sense of security, and that is what it is.

Here, go make the first post ;)

    Sweet :)

I don't pretend Mac is bug free, quite opposite. I've ran into my share of annoying glitches. I just like it better, and its something new for me :) I just hate hoax posts trying to induce panic on the general public. I like the OS better, and at this point I don't have to worry about viruses, or spyware. That may change, but as of right now, its not an issue. I enjoy not having to worry, for the time being.

The thing that caught my eye is that these new Macs use EFI, and while XP does not support it, Vista will. Which means, there is a really good chance that a dual boot scenario is possible. The new Intel Yonah CPU is supposed to be faster than the Pentium-M, which is already faster than the P4.

Seems like a win-win scenario to me. Mac for productivity, Vista for games.

My view on Macs is, and I don't use them, is that they are better in some things, but they also have a huge advantage that Windows doesn't.

As in, all Mac hardware is pretty much the same to a point, which makes writing software a lot easier.

WinTels can be anything, and Windows is expected to run on all of them.

As far as being safer, if everyone used them, that status wouldn't last for long.

If games and other software ran on Macs, I would probably try it.

If finances allowed, a Mac and a Windows machine would be great, but for the foreseeable future, that won't happen for me.

BTW, can we have a Dyson forum, seeing as Adrynalyne and others now have a Macintosh forum? :)

    Ready for this?

Jim and I both own Dyson, the animal model. It sucks! I mean, it really sucks up the dog hair!

    What a bunch of suckers :p :p

So they are worth the price eh?

My mum has the animal one for all the dog hair, and it's the only one that can pick it up. (her dogs have really long fur, and her hoover and electrolux couldn't)

And yes, they are worth it. Expensive, but extremely well designed.

One of the few products that actually does what it promises.

I've got a VAX for Animals.... it's got this crazy attachment that uses the vacuum to spin a brush thing. It makes the most disgusting high pitched noise - maybe it's supposed to act like a dog whistle to tell them to get the hell off your sofa!!! :D

I used to have a Dyson, and it sucked for quite a while. Then it fell appart. Figures. :p

Well, if you treated your Dyson anything like your PM box, you have to empty it at least once a century. :p
