Worble sound from HDMI output to HDTV

Have a new pc build with a fresh graphic, the sound is very distorted on some notes, a 'worblish' sound, fuzzy... like the notes are varying from key...

MB: Asus, M2N68-AM Plus
CPU: AMD AM2+ 9600/2.3GHz, Phenom x4 Black Edition
GC: XFX Radeon HD 5670, HDMI w/ 7.1 surround

let me know if more system information is needed... I am using the HDMI cable for all video output as well as audio, picture is nice, although I am using a 720 instead of 1020 and do not know of the refresh rate on the tv (it's a slim fit sanyo)

picture isn't very nice, the desktop edge is off screen, the letter is next to impossible to read, I have an LCD with DVI to put next to the tv to make any adjustments.

I did change the 'sounds' to the ATI HDMI sound out in the control panel/sound dialog box so the sound is going through the hdmi cable from the graphic card. I believe I have the newest software too.

 

You don't say what operating system you're using.

For the sound I would disable the motherboard's onboard sound in the BIOS. And do you have a good HDMI cable? Some of the $10 ones aren't the newer standard and may have issues.

Usually ATI video cards have a problem with the picture NOT filling the screen when using a widescreen (monitor or TV) display. That is remedied by the overscan/underscan setting in the Catalyst Control Center.
If it's that the display is not centered try changing the resolution of the video card. Could be you have it set to a resolution a/o refresh rate the tv doesn't support.

OS is XP.
Will look at the BIOS for sound.
Cable is a Ultra 500HI (mainstream), 24k gold plate, HDMI 1.3c spec, multi-channel audio support (up to 8 channels), fully HD compliant and was not 10 bucks new...

sound is working nicely...
thinking it was a simple computer restart... all other things looked nice
