Word 2000 lock up.

I have a friend’s machine that locks up solid at the Word 2000 splash screen. No error message is given and you have to cold reboot.

He doesn't recall installing or uninstalling any app recently.

Uninstalling and reinstalling is of no help.

Anyone ever seen this one before? Ideas?

Saw this tip about renaming/deleting the normal.dot file from a search on "Word 2000 locks up"...
