I have word 97 at home and at school they use Vista and whatever version word that is
    I can't save a word'10 and then open it using word'97?

    Or can I?

How do I prevent this from occuring? change the save as file formatt?

so how can I bring up a Word'10 doc using Word 97?

I think the Office Compatibility Pack only goes down to Office 2000. Your other choice is Open Office.

I'm referring to Word 2007, so I'm guessing the Word 2010 has the same option. Word 2007 allows saving a file in Word 97-2003 format. If you have that option in Word 2010, using it would allow you to open those files at home.

I didnt even think about what format I saved it in when I was at school..
I had to break out my laptop and use it to open and resave
