Word crash - some recent work lost

    Hi there,

A colleague was working on a previously-created document today. He added some information, but did not save as he was working. Word crashed and when the document was recovered, the new work was lost.

I checked the Save settings and there was a tick against Save AutoRecover info every: and it was set to 10 minutes. He had been working on the document a lot longer than this - there were about 6 pages lost.

Allow fast saves was ticked, but not Always create backup copy. I am aware that only one of these choices can be ticked and have now changed this over.

There is a .asd file in the default location but this only opens the original document without the extra work.

Why has the Autorecover lost all the new information, if it was set to autosave every 10 minutes?

I have told him to not rely on this in future, and to always perform a manual save every so often. But he is not happy that he has lost this work. I think he messed about with it for a while before calling me, so he may have scuppered any chances of recovering anything, but is there any way to retrieve the lost text?

Someone else reported this same problem, Word 2007, within the last two days.
I wonder if there is a bug? Was it also Office 2007?

I'll see if I can find that post.
