Word Malfuntion

My first problem is when I turn on system and desktop loads my documents folder is loaded and open . Why is that and how do i correct it?

The second one is I tried clicking on Word to use it and it keeps giving me the command to install which is weird, it is installed and I was using it and now I can't and I don't have the disk. Pls Help!

Fix documents so it doesn't open on boot up

Run regedit and navigate to:
HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Winlogon
In there there should be a value (on right hand side of screen) called Userinit.
The data for this value is probably something similar to:
C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe,C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe,
It should be this: C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe,

Double click on the Userinit value and edit the data deleting everything to the right of the first comma.

As far as Word not working, you need Office to repair it or if your computer came with disks to recover installed programs, you can use that to repair Office.

Regedit? i put in regedit in run and I didnt see what your are talking about

Hi

What Windows version you using?

What Office version you using?

What Plodr's instructions are are what I would do too, so when you open Run and type regedit and hit enter what shows on screen?

If regedit, then naviagate to the location mentioned and edit the line, or you can if using XP download this (line 255 and rigth side called My Documents Folder Opens Upon Boot (for C:\)) registry fix for that issue and once downloaded double click it and merge with registry.
