I have word perfect attachments that I have to send out to recipients that have Word Perfect. How can they open the attachment that is sent in Word Perfect format if they have Word format. I am receiving messages that my attachments cannot be opened. Any ideas? Don't know how to send the files so they can be read

    Thank you,

    I'm confused.
Who has Wordperfect and who has MSWord?

Both wordprocessors are capable of reading and writing to each others formats. This only works if the layout is not to complex and doen't contain macros etc. Also depends on which version of Wperfect / Word you/they have. Obviously Word 97 can't read Wperfect 2002 etc.

Both also read and write some 'cross-platform' standards. You could try these as an alternative. These are XML, HTML and RTF.

You access all these by using save as from the file menu and choosing from the drop down box called file type.

Different recipients may need different solution.

The recipients need to set options for converting documents in their word software. typically tools options compatibility which only affects the display of the document and will not permanently change the doc format.

In the meantime ms word allows you to save your documents in a variety of word processing versions. and you will have to "save as" your word docs in each version of your recipients word software.

My computer decided it hates me and will NOT let me use Word -- I am running XP and WordPerfect12 came with my laptop but I installed good ol' Word from discs from my defunct Win 98 puter. It worked great for months and months but now ... no go.

I've tried saving WordPerfect as Word but the folks in my critique group can't open them. I save in .rtf but that messes up the finer points such as page #'s, margins, etc. which are important when submitting stuff to contests.

So, Jewlsz, are you saying I should be able to format a doc in WP, then send it in Word so they can all open it? I've looked for a "Word Perfect Viewer" but haven't found it ... yet ...

Thanks for your patience and for letting me horn in on someone else's query, but as I was Searching the forum this seemed applicable to my situation.
