i was wondering why i can't see other computers on my workgroup... the thing is they are all different OS's so.. im guessing thats the problem?

for each computer, i typed in the exact same workgroup name...
    so say.. i have computers A, B, and C.

A would be able to see B in the "my workgroup" category, but it wont be able to see C.
and C would be able to see A, but not B.

    whats with this? =/

i can ping all of them fine.. its just.. physically seeing the icons on "my workgroup" doesnt show up...

if it helps any, the three different OS's are
    windows xp
    windows 98
    windows 2000.

and the win2k computer can see the windows 98 (they're in the same room) but it cant see the xp.
the xp machine is able to see the windows 2k one, but not the 98 one..
and the 98 can see the win2k one, but not the win xp...

they are all on the same network. so.. whats wrong?

Firewall product would be a start. Make sure that all three are in the same Workgroup for starters, and that "Simple File Sharing" is enabled in Folders for WinXP. Another is that there has to be the same user name for all three with the same password, or WinXP will never be able to access the harddrives for the others.

When WinXP was created, the security was tightened to not allow a user easy rights to other machines on the network.
