wORKS AND WORD

ok long story, i backed up a clients files to my comptuer, did system recovery to their computer and loaded their word back on. well some of the files were microsoft word file and some were works files. i tried to open the works with word and now that i also have works installed i can't open them properly! how do i fix this?
