Workstation Netlogon Service Dysfunc.

    I'm new to this site and I know my computer has spyware because of the browser hijacking and pop-ups. Well, I was trying to follow the "Read me first before posting a thread". Step 2 says to, click Start, Run, and enter the following in the Open box: "services.msc" (without the quotes). Then click OK. Now, in the Services window that pops up look for exactly "Network Security Service" or "Workstation Netlogon Service". If you find these services, you must stop it by right clicking on it then select stop.

    I tried to stop the "Workstation" service but a message keeps popping up everytime I try:
    "Could not stop the Workstation service on Local Computer.
    Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fasion."

    I was wondering if you guys could help me. :)

    If you can not complete a step, our general rule is to skip that step. They do not all apply to everyone. How are you making out finishing the tutorial?

    WAIT! I'M SORT OF YELLING.

    The tutorial said, "up look for exactly "Network Security Service" or "Workstation Netlogon Service"." Notice the word "exactly". The "Workstation" service is not EXACTLY "Workstation Netlogon Service".

    Do not stop the Workstation service. It should remain as Startup type "automatic".

    Following directions exactly is important. Not following directions properly can lead to not solving the problems but in some cases could break your computer. If you are unsure of a direction or get confused when trying to do any steps, always come back and ask for clarification before continuing.
