World At War :(

    Hey,

    I recently got Cod 5 and whenever i go to install it on windows 7100 it gives me an error saying
    "The installation package could not be opend. Verify tat the package exists and that you can access it, ofr contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package. \CoDWaW.msi"

    when i first installed it i accidentally changed the hard drive name and it wouldnt load/find the files so i deleted anything to do with WaW from the registry to try and re-install it again and no luck.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi

    Sadly not all software will work on beta versions of Windows 7, its always best to if not used to beta software, wait for the Release To Manufacturing (RTM) version and then only if the 3rd party software company does support this latest version fo Windows run it.

    What you could try is to right click the installer and choose Run as Administrator and see if it runs ok.

    Does 7 have compatibility modes, the way Vista does? If so, try them out as well.

    Yes, cannot remember if the earlier RC 7100 version had the full Troubleshooters but one of the Compatability options is here Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\Programs and is automated to check compatability.

    Alternative is the right click the apps exe and choose compatability from the tab.

    Although some software that didnt work in the betas/RC version do now in the final.


    What you could also try and just thought of this today is to run the Windows CleanUp Tool and look for COD in the list and remove it, then try re-intalling the game.

    Im not going to worrie about it anymore, im just going to get the RTM from a friend and try that out.
