I play WOW a lot, my computer was specifically built so that I could play games like these without a lot of lag and without my CPU overheating. The last couple weeks my computer had been shutting itself down during the day, mostly in the middle of the day so I put it down to overheating. I moved it to a cooler room with lots of fans, basically, it hit about fifty in here today. When that didn't fix the problem I started getting rid of programs that I didn't need. Didn't work. Did a websearch and found out that other people were having problems with Cosmos, so I uninstalled however, I uninstalled the wrong folder. Thinking it wouldnt' do any harm I completely uninstalled the game itself and went to reinstall it. I got to the fourth disk and my computer again shut itself down. Now when I attempt to download it wont' even recognize the "installer" on disk one so I can begin the install process. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm looking for my windows disk now so that I can start from scratch, but any help in avoiding that would be appreciated.

    Thanks!!

This simply could be a peice of hardware. Like a video card overheating, bad ram etc.

But you mention it turning off while not play WOW during the day, remove everything you do not need from the computer to start. Then turn off onboard things on the motherboard. Narrow it down to even what stick of ram is in what slot. Then slowly add things till it re-occurs.

Computers are not built so they over heat; or have a "cooling down" period. If your pc is experiencing these problems you really need to have a check up if you dont know how to remove spyware/dust off the hardware and update programs.

We've determined that it wasn't a hardware issue. We've switched components out and back in, we've had mobo problems in the past, so we have spare parts. I also went in and cleaned out all the fans and got all the dust out of the computer. I even tried downloading the game through the network from my boyfriends computer, however, his computer is now having similar issues (he loses his desktop everytime it autoruns and nothing else pops up). The computer hasn't shut itself off since I uninstalled. So I think it was something in the game or one of the patches. Should I just stop playing all together? or are there any suggestions to a way around it?
    thanks for all the help!
