Worth It To Upgrade 7yr Old Laptop To Windows 10?

have a 7 year old HP Pavilion g6 with windows 7----want to upgrade to windows 10---if factory restored/wiped clean, will it perform properly or not? Or should i just go buy another laptop?

 

New is not always better- Laptop, or, Windows version- I would try it out first.
I would suggest that you make recovery disks, whilst the recovery partition is still accessible, them try downloading Windows 10, and installing on your HP.

I find W10 very good on drivers, and I would also download Driver booster , to be sure to checkunavailable drivers (the free version will do most, but it can be worth the paid version, if difficult to find one.

Run the Windows 10 Update Assistant. It will tell you if the PC will support W10.

I have a g7 and have upgraded/fresh installed new versions through the years all the way to the current version of W10 without any problems. I replaced the HDD with an SSD about 6 months ago and that made things 100% better.

Edit: Windows 10 runs a lot better/smoother with at least 8gb of ram so consider adding more ram if you only have 4gb.
