Worth it to upgrade?

I have a Q6600 right now with 8 GB DDR2

Do you think it would be worth it to upgrade?

 

From 2.4GHz to 3.2GHz CPU?
Faster RAM speeds?
If everything is compatible and I had the PSU to run it, I would.

 

I have a TX750W which should be enough.

Thinking about maybe another 275 for SLI but unsure if it's worth the extra money for that.

Any idea if you SLI can you mix the memory amounts on the cards or does the memory amounts have to be the same.

I would run with what I had for a while before thinking about upgrading the upgrades.

 

Ooh, the 1090T has gone down in price since the summer, must be the 1100T is going to be released very soon. You must think that your Q6600 is a bottleneck? OC it to 3GHz, easily done with the stock HS/F and see what the new numbers are. The AMD will surely be faster but to answer the 'is it worth it' question only you can answer that.

Phantom just built a 1090T machine, maybe he can answer some q's of yours. As for the GPU's, I believe one needs the same amount of cores for SLI but I'm not at all sure. I do know that a 260 and a 470 live perfectly well together though performing different tasks.:major

 

Something else that I was thinking about, I believe there will be no more significant upgrades available for the AM3 socket, I hope I'm wrong and AMD will make a AM3 X8 desktop processor but I'm not holding my breath as it seems these X8's will be for a socket AM3+ mobo. Do your homework here.

One option is to go with an i7 instead(last I looked they're still $200 @ MicroCenter) and when the 980X hexa-core comes down in price, you can upgrade to that beast!:eek Just some random thoughts.
