Wow, Help Perhaps?

My computer has been hijacked for awhile now, as the person using it didn't know how to go about fixing it. The homepage was always reset, sites were always added to the favorites, and no ad-aware runs helped any, along with CWShredder. Now all of a sudden, the pop up rate has increased dramatically and the browser toolbar has been altered. I would post a Hijack This log, but I'll wait until asked to do so. I'm very novice level with computers, my apologies for the shortcomings, and appreciation for any potential help!

::Sigh:: Yes. I read that particular page. I understand some people probably happen upon this site without reading the proper details and post their problems right away, but assuming each and every new post falls into this category is faulty. In either case, the person posting is a person with a problem, a problem that requires attention and quite preferrably the help and assistance of a person who at least has some sort of knowledge in the field. Reading my post and automatically banishing it as "one of those who didnt read the Read Me" not only delays and hampers the cleansing process, but renders this sort of service near useless. I manually fixed the problem myself, so it was useless for me, but thanks anyway, and thanks for all the time and effort put into fixing these sort of problems. (Maybe more time and effort should be put into fixing instead of nitpicking, eh?)

now I'm nit picking. If you read the stickies, you would have known to let us know that you read them.. even if you didn't pay attention to that part, you should have been keen enough to let us know so we didn't instruct you to read something that you already read. I assume people haven't read them if they don't state they did because it's our first line of defense. I can't read your mind and neither can any of the other helpers on this site. Help us help you man..

 

It's quite alright, the problem that brought me here in the first place has been readily vanquished. I do appreciate all the effort people on this site put in to fixing potential problems. I do believe this is the correct channel for help, is it not (for Adrynalyne)? Anyhow Kodo, what you say is primarily to the point. I apologize again for any shortcomings! This thread is hardly relevant, however, with my problem being fixed, so I do thank you for your time. I may call upon your service and talents in the future, at least I know you are up to the task. Thanks!

No such thing as a dumb question...but there are some dumb statements people make and this is one of them.

You won't go wrong with an answer from Kodo or Adrynalyne...trust them and follow their advice.

 

Ahem, I did state in my initial post that I was going to refrain from posting a Hijack This log because I had read that it was better to wait until instructed to do so. I fully read and understood all of the required reading before making a plea for help. What helps is fellows such as Kodo making efforts to thumb their way through ignorant posts like mine to get to the bottom of the troubles. What does not help are trolling posts such as yours that do nothing to help and "porcelain-kiss" the appropriate poster to the chagrin of one who seeks assistance.

 

it also helps to explicitly state that you've read ALL of the material. Looked to me as though you only read the Hijack this post.. nothing more; and this is just the surface of it all.
