WOW! Knoppix is COOL!

Never tried Knoppix before - it all fits on one CD and it's amazing what all is there! I'm seriously trippin'!
Shoot, add a few more apps, boot from a DVD, and you've got almost anything you'd want and it travels in your pocket!
I am honestly amazed. I was under the impression that this was a barebones OS with a few system tools tossed in - was I ever wrong!

 

Ya, but it's really slow running it off of the CD. I have used it several times as a rescue disk in that I was able to get online to get help when my XP got stuffed up. Anyways, using a livecd is a great way to try various distros to find one that feels good to you.

 

Knoppix is the daddy of live CD technology, but everybody and his dog has a 'live' version now, and a lot are better than Knoppix - or more useful to me anyway.

I carry several 'live' versions around with me, in my job as a PC technician

I use Puppy for older PC's, Wolvix for most others, PClinuxOS and probably a variant of Knoppix, like Kanotix. I usually carry a copy of PClinuxOS gamer DVD too, to prove that Linux *can* do games
