Wow, you are some laid back Folders!

Just checking in with you mellow Folders. I guess all is going well with you folks, I don't see any new folding help threads.

Wow, Cat_W_9 was right, you folks are, well, laid back.:-D I am in a little battle for the top 3 spots on my team, having a lot of fun with the borgs and getting new hardware to fold.

If any of you know how to get both cores of an ATI 3870X2 folding, let me know please!

LOL@GD referance!:-D Well Eric, it's all about folding affordably IMO. Sure, I'd love to have a farm of borgs with G260s and the bragging rights to go with it, but it ain't gonna happen even though I can pay cash for several dual dual-headed rigs like that sporting an i7. :drool I do my bit but I'd rather keep the bucks. My modest little setup is doing just fine thank you. (Well, maybe just one more 9800GT for the X2 rig).rolleyes:-D

There you go! I got a 8800GS en route for my little farm. You need to cut back a bit augie, don't go for too many points at once! You might want to let that GPU just sit on the mobo for a few weeks so it can get acclimated. :-D

 

What is your PPD on the 9800?

Well, real life is giving me about 4.6K PPD because not all projects are equal. Project 5506 gives me 5K PPD as per FAHMon, but I rarely get there as they throw in others. I know they will get better in time, still a beta eh? I am going to fool around with RivaTuner in the morning, of course taking baby steps.

During the short time I’ve been folding it does seem that most here simply get on with contributing rather than chase points for bragging rights. I have noticed that the number of machines contributing for the team fluctuates greatly at times. Also noteworthy is that you have no-one under 10,000 points on your team, so you are fortunate to have a consistent team. Good luck with the battle. :major

@ Augie- You should check out your setup. I have an 8800GS that gets 4K per day. You should be getting a lot better than that I would think.

@ Paramonks I posted this partially to brag a bit, and kinda as a joke to Cat_W_9!:-D I appreciate everyone that folds no matter what team or what they fold with. And some, like myself are very competitive. But there is a good side to keeping up with your points. It can give you a real time results if you overclock, and you can see what hardware combinations get more points. (should tell you something about regular/gaming performance as well) I have also seen where just updating drivers or folding clients can increase points while folding on the same hardware.

The more WU's completed the more points. The more points, the better the chance for some medical improvements. Fold however you wish. :cool

Well Fred, I did have to move from my comfy reclined position in order to login here last night, but since you came up with the idea of piping Zen music into the Folding Forum... I will forgive you. Folding geeks with good karma WUs, sounds good to me. I'm sure CP will put that on his list of things to do in his spare time (might be about 30 yrs till he retires but we can all hum when we come in here till then) Can never have enough good karma when folding, every little bit helps, thanks!

Re MGs Folding Team, we all give what we can to help research and the team. Some are power users, some have multiple machines and some have one or two limping along like me. I look at it this way, whatever we contribute helps the team and research is that much closer to getting the info they need.

Now back to our regularly scheduled thread... 3870X2, some have gotten it to work, you're a geek I know you can do it! Sorry I don't know enough to help you. If it were me I would ask "mhouston" for help. *takes a nap*

Thanks for the links Cat_W_9. Those seem to be for the 4870. I think I got both cores on the 3870X2 folding last night, but killed it due to low PPD. Then my 3870 tanked in PPD, so I will try it again tonight.

3870X2 is Folding on both cores now. I had a borked overclock on one of my 8800GT's. My PPD should increase a bit!

I have another video card enroute to me, should have it Wednesday. Looks like the my team is in for a nice little battle for the top 3 spots. :-D

Thanks Cat_W_9! I am now averaging 20.5K PPD :-D This is going to be a fun little battle. I am only around 2K PPD from being back in the lead, and a little box should arrive for me Wednesday! :cool

 

Aha more hardware for the battle Where do you put all the new cards... just curious as usual, do you upgrade old ones or have PCs that you build?

 

Actually, my box came in today. Very nice seller on another forum paid some $$ to get it to me fast! I am amazed, dude spent almost $14 to ship a $70 including shipping item to me.

And Cat_W_9, it has been a bit crazy, all are Folding, but not tweaked out yet. I have 2 dual GPU borgs at my house, plus my dual CPU laptop, and my 3870X2 box. It is quite loud in my little tin can with all the fans, but the computers are pretty much heating my house! :-D I will have to scale back in the summer.:cry

Plus I have a borg or two around town I take care of and upgrade as needed and when I have the $.

So 5 GPU folders off in here, plus 2 in an undisclosed location. And a tiny 500 PPD laptop. And that is how I got over 20K today, with the shuffling around of cards and overclocks, I don't know what I will have Wednesday. Happy Turkey day folks! I am cooking one. I should make an oven with the GPU cards..
