WP locking up and connection problem

I have a Dell laptop, about 1½ years old. All of a sudden when I tried to connect to the internet at home it won't bring up a browser window. Furthermore, if I go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs it will not list any programs. It only does this in my home location. If I try to open Windows Explorer it locks up and I have to manually reboot. Most programs will not open up. When I move the computer to another location it works without any problems.

At the time this started I was trying to install Kaspersky 7. I had version 6 and removed it. Version 7 did not complete the install and I removed it - both as a program and through Regedit (keying on both Kaspersky and KAV).

I have run SpyBot S&D and Ad-Aware.

I have done ipconfig /release (and renew). I go through my home network, but also connected the computer directly to the cable modem.

Also, though I can't access other computers on my home network they can access my computer's shared folders without problem.

If I boot into Safe Mode everything works fine.

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

 

If everything works fine in Safe Mode then it is probably a service that is causing your problems. I would go into msconfig and uncheck any services and startup items that look like they don't belong.
