WPM uninstall help

    I have no idea what version WMP i installed, I got my computer back from being fixed(SDS card replaced and HD replaced, free under warrenty) and I tried to play some music and I couldnt, so I had to download WMP

    I hate the new WMP. it takes forever to load, it has a clicker for volume control and always shows the time in the corner, I can't find the file to uninstall it and install something simple like WMP4...any tips on how to uninstall this?

    Hi

    What version of Windows do you have and Service Pack, but in essence WMP is built into Windows and if you do manage to uninstall it (not that their are any MSKB instructions to do this available) then you may kill windows as some WMP APIs are used by Windows and other apps.

    Just install a different media player you like and set that as default for playing your media.

    To add to David's suggestion...

    The KMPlayer is a great video player (plays audio as well, but I prefer Winamp for audio). KMPlayer has built in codecs for almost every type of video file, has a TON of options while keeping a very simple interface, and isn't too resource-intensive (loads fast, etc.).
