    I hope everyone is well.

I'm not looking for medical advice, but does anyone else have pain in their wrists, hands, or elbows?

I got a came cube for Christmas. I cant use the darn thing because it kills my hands, and I want to save my pain for work on the puter.

So does anyone else suffer? And more importantly, do you have any excercises, stretches, devices that work.

I wear trufit wrist braces, and they help. Also, M$ ergonomic keyboard, and kensington expert mouse pro. My wife has a kengsington orbit that kills me.

The game cube controllers, both adult and child, give me pain in my wrists and fingers which I cannot abide.

    Advice??

Is the poll aimed to pain from using the mouse?
    or the game cube controller?
Also when I play computer games for a long period of time I only get a bit of pain where my wrist is resting on the mouse pad, which is a bone that is directly down from your pinkie to where your wrist joint is, It doesn't last for very long though.
I also have an xbox and when I play that for a very long time I get absolutly no pain what so ever. I dont know why people complain about them being so big, their the only controllers that actually dont hurt me.

Kodo, will do. They cost like four bucks in chinatown.

Kemper89, the poll is geared to general wrist pain from using computer. Mine is from both mouse and keyboard (alt+tab, cnrl+s, etc).

jarcher, I hate to return a gift, but I do not see a way around it.

The new toy gave urgency to a question I've wanted to ask for a while.

I know it may be hard, but take breaks from the computer. Every like hour or so just take a 10 minute break and eat or do something else. Relaxing the wrist and hand and fingers from constant motion can be a good way to reduce the pain. If your looking for a more immediate method, take some tylenol.

As soon as I got out of high school and started working on a computer more for work and all my wrists hurt bad. I've found that those jelly type mouse pags and strips for the keyboard work well. I think a lot of it has to do with how your hands/wrists are situated. The pads helps keep them straighter and my wrists haven't hurt since.

On another note, DDR is killing my feet. :D

Kodo's numbness in the shoulders is because of a nerve under the palm of your hand having pressure applied to it.... my step dad had this in his elbow and gave him terrible back pain. I had the same thing after being on crutches for 4 months: putting my weight on the palms of my hands.

Personally I have a gel keyboard rest and mouse rest... works wonders :D

I've had both wrists operated on a few times because of damage. Have to use the silicone gel pads in front of the keyboard and the mouse. It doesn't exacly stop the pain, but I last a lot longer.

Take wrist pain seriously. Carpal tunnel syndrome can get bad enough to need surgery, as several here have noted.

Kodos balls can help, as they move your hands and tendons to excercise them. I also periodically rotate my wrists all around, hard, putting pressure on them to keep things loose. Carpal Tunnel is a condition where the cartiledge in the wrist gets too tight around the tendons to the hand, gets inflamed, and hurts. And beyond a certain point it WON'T go away, hence the surgery.

At least as important as excercise is how you position your hands. (and your body. Long periods in unnatural positions can strain other parts as well)
Your arms/wrists/hands should form a straight line, with your fingers curving down to the keys comfortably. If your wrists are tilted UP to the keyboard, lower your chair, raise the keyboard, change the slant, whatever it takes to get a straight strain-free position. Same for the mouse; get a straight comfortable position with it. Use wrist pads that help keep the correct angles.

Your problem with the controllers may be because they don't fit your hands properly, or it may be that your wrists are aready restricted and painful, and the controllers agravate it, but I'd leave the controllers alone for a bit and work on your wrists, and see if it gets better.

If NOT, see a doctor. Carpal tunnel is no joke.

It should, if you quit doing whatever caused it and baby it for a while.

Damaged tissue takes time to repair itself. Anything you put on it to help the pain will just encourage you to abuse it further. Give it time.
