ok just got downloaded a film (illegally i know!) and it's 2 video files. i want to put these 2 files to a dvd disc - 4.39gb are they? anyway been having trouble using nero 6. i started the write this morning at 9am and was still going at 6pm! my friend said he can write dvds in 12 minutes! i went through nero startsmart, chose video files then create your own dvd. added the 2 video files to my compilation, then went to the menu setup bit for the disc - just left this blank and then began to write to disc and said it would be completed in about 14 hours!!!!!

    what am i doing wrong??!!!???!!!???!!!

There are two explanations i can think about:
1:U have the wrong kind of disk(using a - disk for a + drive and vise versa)
2:U'r system is so slow theat it would have been cutting edge 20 yrs ago

If you have an older system, it may take a while to convert the video files you downloaded to DVD format before a DVD video disc can be burnt (I'm assuming you planned to watch it on a DVD player)

i'm using a - disc on a +/- rw drive, so it should be able to write anything!

    my system is -

    xp pro,
    pentium 3 666mhz,
    192mb sdram,
    Radeon 9200SE 128mb,
    5.1 Dolby Surround,
    12x dvd +/-r and +/-rw
    52x cd rom

if i'm using nero, how should i go about writing a disc! someone said to me something about putting the two .avi files into the video folder if you get to that option????

The conversion of your video files to DVD format is done with the CPU-with yours, it will take a while. The actual burning process will be much quicker, especially with a 12X drive. You may have to lower your burn speed if you run into a buffer underrun error and burn a coaster, you are asking a lot of your processor and memory.

first guy - yeh i know i'm getting a motherboard bundle when i get some money from my birthday (hard being 15!!!!) which will boost to 512mb ddr.

second guy - yeh, i've brought it down to 4x cos i was told that you will lose the quality if you burn that fast.

thanks for your help, it's supposed to finish in 3 hours! i'll update on it then.
