    Welcome to Major Geeks.
Numbers and Specs for the drives for comparison would help.

    hey there,

if you can get in to the bios is there any sign of a hard drive?
if so can you reset to factory defaults?
have you double checked that the drive is firmly seated, and retried boot?

May sound stupid, i dont mean to insult your intelligence, but have you but the old HDD back in properly??

Are ALL connections securely pushed in? i'ts probably worth double checking!

this is getting very weird...lol i inserted the 80gb hard drive with the apple logo again on the last attempt....it read the hard drive but SMART detected that its going to go bad to copy all my files and such blah blah blah ...press F1 so i did it ....i tried install windows xp but it didnt want to install BUT when i tried to install vista it worked...so i figured putting back my 60 gb hard that worked before but bios doesn't read that one still....?????????

maybe i messed up my old 60 gig working hd taking it out and putting the 80 gig hard drive of hell in........i dunno im really confused

im better off getting a BRAND NEW HARD DRIVE and seeing if BIOS gets it...

    what you guys think ??????

NECRO61 and BURRELL i tried to restore the defaults on BIOS, put the old HD back no luck, i was going to try to reset the CMOS jumper inside the motherboard but the toshiba manual dosent mention anything about that ....

its really weird....i think my best bet is getting a brand new hard drive and trying it like that ...

    hey there,

    have you got this sorted?
You might try a random fix such as removing the ram, (with the unit unplugged of course and no battery installed). Then while the ram and battery are removed plugging it back in and powering on and off a few times, let it do its little beeps and things retry... and then reinstall the ram followed by the battery.

Laptops in my experience - which is quite limited i admit, arent the most congenial of computing hardware to come to grips with, there are a number of manufacturers with there own proprietary configurations. I would suggest sending an email to the manufacturer see if they dont have a fivce minute fix for you.
