Wtf?? :(

So the problem is that I just recently installed a program, WinAVI DVD Copy, for some copying of homemade DVDs. When I started to copy the DVD, some folders and icons just randomly disappeared from my desktop!! There was over 10GB of files in those folders, and some of the files I would REALLY like back!!

Unfortunately, though, system restore was being stupid and didn't make a backup point when I installed WinAVI DVD Copy.

Someone please help!!!!!!

 

First, try a Windows search for the files or folders that went missing. I seriously doubt they've been completely removed. If the search turns up nothing, pay a visit to the Data Recovery section here at Major Geeks. There's tons of great, free recovery tools in there. Here's a couple:
