Wuauclt

    OK... another question... wuauclt is a PITA...
    Do I really need it?
    If not, how do I get rid of it forever?

    Just change the way you download Windows updates. Change it form automatic to inform you but you decide what and when to update.

    Hey Tim... I already had the auto update set to that setting ;) so yesterday I turned auto update OFF... I had no issues the remainder of yesterday, but as I was checking my email right now, I noticed actions slowing down so I opened task manager... and guess what... there was wuauclt in two places...:(

    Can I find it and disable it some way... :-D

    Do I need to scan it in particular for infection?

    FYI... It has been less than a week since I did a complete MG malware cleaning and I run Avast and Malwarebytes...
