Ok I've got a Wireless USB card that I've been using on my computer. My family is directly connected through cable and I wanted to switch that around so that I'm directly connected. My computer was fine with the transition and I'm able to host the connection fine. But when I connected my USB card to the family computer it will come up with invalid IP.

Ok so I manually configured because I figured the family computer was trying to use the IP my computer was now using. It says it connects. I open a browser and nothing. Never loads a page. Then I repair the connection and the computer crashes.

So right now I've got the family computer back to obtain the IP automatically. It's not crashing yet, but any time I mess with the connection and tell it to reconnect or repair it crashes the entire computer. Any ideas why this would be happening and/or how I can fix this so the family computer can connect to the internet? I really don't want to give up the direct connection.
