is it generally the same? or is it different for every gfx card?

i have an ATI x800xl @ 432/525 agp (running on stock cooling)and the temps are 31 celcius average in idle (im from canada and have never used Ferinhiet) and 53 average during load, shud i stick with this or can i oc more??

    those are great temps.

my 6800XTreme runs about 50C idle and 60C under load

if u can keep it stable id see how far u can push it, looks like u got a good card

test it with 3dmark, ATItool or something similar

now im at 435/531 and i cannot bump up any more core clock, after 440 i wud get artifacts. My temps are 55 average on load, i did tweak the fans speed and it seems to be keeping my card cool right now im trying to bump more mem speed

85??? thats pretty high...is that safe tho?

BTW, the artifacts that im getting during 440 are very minimal, should i keep overclocking or is it safer to stick with wut i got?

i meant YOUR temps were good, hankfista...not so much lol

yea i think ur good; if you are getting any artifacting maybe drop it 1-2 mhz just to be safe and it should be OK as long as nothing major happens

its the arctic cooler on the iceQturbo that keeps it so cool i think!

no i think 85 is about max!has yours got an artic cooler because you can buy one to suit that card

I've also got the x800xl (version with passive cooling) and even without overclocking it the sensor reads temps of 50C idle and anything up to 85C playing FEAR or other things that work the card hard.

I'm not worrying because I haven't overclocked the card and don't get any artefacts (although I am kind if hoping that those readings are dodgy...).

I'd say your temps are excellent but since you're getting artefacts I wouldn't push it further than you have, there's no point in increasing your frame rate if you're GPU is turning out rubbish after all.

in my bios i found this settings where i can tweak my agp port voltage, is it simmlar to a volt mod? if i increase that can i squeeze more out of my card with out getting artifacts?

my mobo is p4p800-s from ASUS

No, the AGP voltage settings that you can play with in your bios change the voltage that is going to the AGP slot, thus theoretically allowing for more data transfer. That being said, I doubt your card is fully saturating the bandwidth your AGP slot provides in the first place. Overvolting your AGP slot is very seldomly beneficial in any way. Volt modding on the other hand is done on the actual video card itself, either through a hard mod (conductive ink mod, etc) or a soft mod (a video card bios mod, such as the one that is popular with 7800 gt users). Chances are the reason you are seeing artifacts is because your card is needing more voltage than it is getting. The only reason to get rid of the artifacts are to lower your clocks, or overvolt your cards GPU/Memory.
