WXP shows free space inaccurately

    Hello everyone:

    My Windows XP shows that I have more free space than the actual size of the HDD. How do I fix this issue, please?

    First, what size is the disk? Second have you installed sp2?

    Size of disk is 120 GB, yes, SP2 installed.

    This is just weird ...get into the bios and see how the drive is listed ...manual or auto detect?

    Try running chkdsk and report it's output.

    In addendum to the above quote.

    Start, run, type in cmd, press enter.

    chkdsk c: /r (Press enter)<---- would be a benefit. See if this fixes it.

    Any questions this command asks for, just type Y press enter.

    Reboot.
