didn't see a Mac area so here goes

Trying to get Open Office and GIMP installed on a new iMac (not a new, new one though). just updated to 10.4.3, and I can't get X11 working. I downloaded the package, and Tiger won't let me install it.
I get a message saying 'newer software is aleady installed on the drive. Yet when I tr to run GIMP, it tells me Apples X11 is needed.

    Anybody know whats going on?
    Thanks.

Yup. You need to install X11 from the Tiger CD. That is the latest version of Apple's X11.

To add to my last comment, its likely you will need to run 10.4.3 update again, as it contains a couple X11 fixes.

    thanks for the quick reply.

I installed the sdk packages from the cd (from the xCode tools folder), but still no luck.

there isn't even an app for x11 in utilities.

    thanks.
