Wasn't sure if this is a hardware or driver question....anyway. I purchased the above card recently to replace my onboard 6150Le so I could atleast play games a little better amongst other reasons. Anyway after much hassle I got the thing installed and running fine with the old card disabled. However no matter what I do I cannot update the drivers I constantly get this error message. ' severe error setup could not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system'.This would imply I'm installing the wrong drivers (Im not, its windows xp media center edition) I contacted ATi who just said change your bios settings so I changed the default to PCI-E and followed the other basic instructions they sent still no luck. I sent them another email saying this hadn't worked they just said make sure your chipset drivers are uptodate and bios is set right. No help whatsoever to me as I don't know what they are reffering to. I can't find a PCI-E in my device manager.....phew....anyway Im at the end of my tether as I can't play games any better than I could before, if not worse. The most annoying thing is the drivers that came with the card work fine. Any help would be VERY much appreciated.

the first thing I recommend to anyone installing a new video card or even upgrading their drivers is to remove all graphics related drivers that are currently installed. Any remnants of old or incompatible ones can cause a ton of issues. I used to recommend DriverCleaner Pro as it was excellent freeware, but now it seems they're charging $10. Its worth it in my opinion, but I'm sure there are other good free ones if you look around.

But, before we get there, and in case something goes wrong, make sure you have the following drivers downloaded or on disk:
-Motherboard Chipset drivers (either from the motherboard manufacturers website, or the brand of the computer's support page)
-Ethernet drivers (if separate from the chipset driver)

Once you're ready, uninstall all graphics drivers in Add/Remove programs. Reboot to safe mode (tap F8 during boot for safe mode options), and run the driver cleaning program of your choice. Reboot again into normal windows, and then you're ready to install the latest graphics drivers.

If you need help with any of this, or finding drivers, post as much info about your computer as you know (particularly brand and model # or service tag if you have one) and we can help you from there:)

Ok, well I've used the program you mentioned previous as it was suggested by someone and Im not convinced it deleted everything but I was being wary. Here is a bunch of information as to be honest Im so tired of doing things (probably wrong) I just need some help. Like I said it doesnt list a PCI-E (not that name anyway) in the device manager and there is still alot of nvidia controllers in there. I disabled the graphics card in the device manager as I couldnt find an option to do it in BIOS.
