well my problem is this. I cannot get our xboxes to show an open NAT. We have a belkin N F5D8236-4 v2 router. Cable internet connection. I have tried MAC filtering. I have forwarded the ports according to the intructions xbox and belkin give. I have set a static ip up. I am ready to pull my hair out! please help guys!?:banghead

Here's what we did: Router had been supporting my desktop and my son's laptop for ages. We looked at the IP, his laptop lan was using; shut laptop down, disconnected it; hooked xbox to router and fed it same IP the laptop had been using.

The desktop was on IP NNN.NNN.1.100, and the next IP for the laptop, but now the xbox is NNN.NNN.1.101 or the next in sequence.

You can check the IP for a computer by right clicking the Ethernet icon in right end of your taskbar (running programs) if it is displayed, or go to Control Panel, left click network connections, right click Local Area connection, left click Status, left click Support and you should find the IP.

Now, if your router won't support a computer, then it needs to be set up first, which will require more tech specifics for the router than I can help with, now. I hope this works, and good luck:wave

Sorry! Should have mentioned it's wireless! We have a desktop, a laptop, 2 smartphones, and 3 kindles that never have an issue with connecting. Then while I was fiddling around in the router last night it decided to give me an open NAT. But it does that sometimes and then a week later it switches it back to strict without me changing any thing! Damn Gremlins!:p

Intermittent! ... no fun:mad Found a belkin page for setup, which probably won't tell you much more than you already did, but they allude to more trouble shooting needs in a note at the end. Recheck your setup at:

    http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3817

Also, take notice of "Answers others found helpful" on the right side of the page.
Hopefully, one of these may give you the clue for the solution.

When "it switches it back to strict without me changing any thing," are any of the other devices effected, or just the xbox?

    Good luck:wave
