Hi all, I have an Xbox 360, can't read the update from the disc. Please reinsert the disc to continue the update.

    Status Code 351F-3CD6-B800-0F00-C000-0013.

I am unable to get out of this either by burning the update files to a CD or from a USB flash drive, which seems to be the solution offered by a lot of web pages.

    Any ideas? Many thanks.

You do not have to use a disc for updating the Xbox 360. What exactly are you trying to do with this Xbox gaming system?

I'm not sure why it got into updating in the first place as I'm looking at it for a friend, I think he was trying to play a new game that requested an update first. Thanks

You would be better to ask over on the Microsoft Xbox forums, since they would know what is going on. They would need to know what game it is that is trying to do the update, is the machine even connected to the network, how is it connected (wifi or ethernet), did it work okay before, also is this a newer Slim model, or one of the models before that Gen.

Now of course you can do a Factory Reset on it, which would also erase the hard drive, which may correct the issue. Now of course if you did a search for the code, you would have come across this http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/system-updates/software-update-errors

Not everyone is going to know everything there is to know on everything on these forums, so it is always better to use a Search engine first, to see if anyone else has had the issue, then come over to a tech forum specific to the hardware, to go further.

Most are stating it is a Xbox Live issue, and to clear the System Cache on the machine. See also http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=UTF-8&fr=crmas&p=Status+Code+351F-3CD6-B800-0F00-C000-0013

Thanks brownizs, I had seen those links but they just say to try to update from flash drive or CD, which I've done. I have to apologise as I have some new information that changes things completely.

It is an Xbox slim that has no hard drive :) I realised this when I tried to take it out to try flashing it with Jungle Flasher as recommended elsewhere. So all the usual options are out and I think I will have to tell them they need to buy a HD to do a reset or reflash. Not sure how they got it doing an update without a HD.

Their account is not locked out through Xbox Live per chance. Who is their provider, how are they connecting to the ISP modem? What happens when you take it to your place and try to do the update, or do a reset and update?

See http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/f/9/p/100411/497986.aspx Majority of the times, it is due to connectivity issues on the user's end, not due to the Xbox or Live.

Now of course they could take it into a Gamestop and they would be able to update it, if they are slow.
