Hello, I have a problem if anyone can help me. All of a sudden my xbox 360 gives a blank screen on my hdtv. I was playing it fine 5 minutes before and turned it off. The next time I turned it back on I didn't get a picture. No error message, nothing! But on my hdtv when I load it, it loads fine with green lights and everything but I get no picture! It can't be the cable cause I just bought a brand new hd component av cable from the shop. Normally it would say HDTV 1080p across the top left, but now it says HDTV Unknown. I've tried a different cable aswell, and a different tv to see if that makes any difference but it hasn't. Does anyone know a possible solution to this? :cry:cry:cry

    Try this:

    1. Turn off the 360 all the way.
    2. Grab the Player 1 controller since this will only work using the primary controller.
    3. Turn 360 back on.
    4. As the console boots, simultaneously press Y and RT on that controller.

These steps will reset the 360 display settings to its original defaults, and then reboot it immediately. When it restarts it will have its default settings, the way it was out of the box. Hopefully that will give you picture again, so you can configure it back to the way you want it.

    Good luck!

It didn't work, whats interesting to note is, the xbox 360 still responds as its working fine, like i can hold down the X on the controller and press up twice and press A and it will turn off. However when I put something in the dvd rom drive it doesn't seem to load it. Can it be possible that something is wrong with the dvd rom?

That is possible... does it work okay if you boot it without a disc in the drive?

Thats what I've been doing all along, it has never had a disc in there whilst booting, I've even tried booting the xbox 360 without the dvdrom drive, it still doesn't work. I think it might be something wrong with the graphics card?

Maybe dumb question at this point, but... is it under warranty? If yes, send it in for repair.

If not, yes, I think you're right that the graphics card in there might either be shot or need serious cleaning. :(

Unfortunately its not under warranty anymore because my friend bought this from another friend and when we took the front faceplate off the warranty sticker was no where to be found lol. At the moment the xbox360 is fully open, I was thinking I might potentially attempt a x clamp fix and use arctic silver thermal paste instead as I've done for other consoles too. However I just want to be sure that a x clamp fix will indeed fix it. Other people have suggested the possibility of something called a h(ana) chip being damaged on the motherboard below the dvdrom drive? Some people suggest using heat on that to repair it, however that seems far too risky.
