My Xerox xk50 seems not to see yellow when scanning--when printing colored files, it works ok. When COPYING colored files, it just prints magentas,cyans,purples--nothing with yellow shows up!!

Right now I have it hooked up to a phone line and mainly use it as a fax machine (black-only) and black-only copier.

sounds like it is one of those multi-function units. How long have you had this problem? If this is a new unit and under warranty, I would get it replaced cause it sounds like you got a lemon (lemon's color is yellow too, coincidence?! ;)

No. I WISH it was under warranty. It is a couple of years old, that's why I was hoping for someone with experience with scanners in general, and multi-function Xerox units in particular.
    Thanks

Are all ink cartridges reasonably new and/or at near full capacity? one, or more, may need forced cleaning. Do you use the Xerox MF machine regularly. There may be a blockage caused by infrequent use. Run the head cleaning software provided with the machine and do it more than once if necessary.Yellow is always a difficult colour. For example, if you use a yello0w highlighter on text then photocopy it, the yellow highlights usually vanish. Bazza

Printing problem could easily be a cartridge problem like Bazza mentioned, what troubled my fragile little mind was that the scanner wouldn't even see the color yellow as well....I would suggest downloading and installing the latest drivers if you already haven't done so, if that doesn't help, check on Xerox support site to see if that problem was experienced by other or that is it was a known problem...

One quick suggestion, try this unit with another PC, if you experience the same problem then you'd know for sure it is a problem within the unit (configuration/defective component).
    Hope this help, good luck.

    Hi dawiz,

i read your problem - it's the same on my XK50: Yellow did not read!!
Printer is ok. Could you solve the problem at that time? If, how?

    greetings from germany

Welcome to Major Geeks. As we previously mentioned, yellow is a difficult colour to scan. Not much help to you, but a fact of life in the PC Industry. Bazza

PS: your German-->English translation worked well. Baz
