Thanks a lot for your recommendation in the software forum re: Mozilla Firefox. I can't believe what a difference it has made in my browsing. I've read different posts through the past months on Mozilla, but have stuck by the MyIE2 browser which I thought was the best. You seemed so adament about trying Firefox that you finally convinced me. I downloaded Mozilla Firefox from MG, installed, and my pewter ROCKS! Pages load faster and I don't get the "unable to locate server" message anymore. Good job ol buddy!!! ;)

    Do not use Internet Explorer.
Friends do NOT let friends use Internet Explorer.
Download Mozilla Firefox, (or the older Mozilla Firebird) and use it. Then you will have a better browsing experience.

It is like the surf in the morning. Very nice, like a dolphin. You'll see, but you have to have faith.

    Now go.
    Download laurieB.

    Download!

    What is the difference?

    Well, let's see.....

Oh yes, Its all coming to me now....

IE is FULL of security holes where little nasty things get into your computer.

    Mozilla Firebird/Firefox has the
Tabbed Browsing, which anybody on dial-up should have. Believe me.

<now to hunt down the way to config the tabbed browsing on the Mozilla Firebird 0.9 thingy --- laurieB, you didn't hear that!>

Right click on your bookmark & click on "Open new tab"

Wow. I can't believe this is that much faster than MY IE2 but it is. I just have to get used to the right click for a new tab. Is there a spell checker that works with this?

Long ago I tried the full version of Mozilla and found it to be a pig, but I guess I'm just going to have to try it. I've been using MyIE2 for a long time and am happy with it but I'm game to give Firefox a go. A geek's gotta try new things ;)

I made the jump tonight. I got sick and tired of all the bull with IE.. and keylogging my bank accounts just twists me the wrong way.

Make sure you get the tabbed browsing extensions and mouse gesture extensions..etc.. the themes are nice too.

Would crash on me trying to import anything from IE so I had to export my favs to opera and then to FF.

All in all , i'm happy with it and I'm putting it on all my machines.

I haven't found it yet, I'm still playing with the extensions trying to figure out which ones to use with this browser.

    tabbrowser extentions

tabbrowser extentions gives you total control over pretty much everything to do with tabs and new windows. you can also save tab sessions to be opened later, etc, and if firefox crashes, tabbrowser extentions will attempt to reopen all tabs that were open before the crash.

what's going on is this latest IE flaw is the biggest screw up yet. In the past , it used to be the case that they would have to lure you to "bad" sites, now they infect GOOD , popular, well known sites and the user has no clue.. so to me, that is the last straw..

I moved all my pc's to it last night and even my work pc. I

Okay to lazy to do a search (sorry kittens) but is Firefox stand alone like Opera or does it use IE? Do you think it is better than Opera Kodo, I saw that you had Opera so what's your opinion?

  17. Kodo

    Kodo SNATCHSQUATCH

it is stand alone and does NOT use the IE engine. I am completely sold on FireFox over Opera. I probably won't switch back to IE ..

I've been running with 2 browsers for a while, IE and Firefox. This week I made the official switch at work as well as at home. There are still a few issues I have with Firefox at a couple of websites (which are really more likely the site that has a problem, not Firefox) but all and all I feel a lot better using it as my default browser now.

same here Jamiko.. there are few sites.. but the pro's greatly outweigh the cons in this case.

    Thanks.

There's a brand new Copy URL extension. Grab it here:

I'm using it to post this. It works. :)

Any idea how to highlight something and right click to copy it?

It's working for me. The Copy URL extension copies to the clipboard; evidently it allows copying anything to the clipboard.

It's in the "Miscellaneous" section BTW. It was in the "Newest" section earlier tonight, but got bumped off the list already. They add extensions quickly.

I have it downloaded, but I still can't copy with the right mouse click. I can if I click copy from the toolbar though. I guess I'm just used to the right mouse click. I found it more convenient.

Are you sure? It's working for me. Right clicking a link gives me a pop-up menu that lets me "Copy link location", which copies the address to the clipboard, to be pasted wherever.
