I did a search and this is not a patch but involves flashing the bios to the 5950 bios. This may work and may not if it doesn't your card may artifact or your computer may not boot. I would suggest a lot of research before attempting and being sure you know how to recover from a bad flash. This should not be attempted without realizing that you can do damage to your card. Good luck I had been looking for a bios that I can flash my card with but not having any luck.

By this he means render your card completely useless. Unless you have money to burn or at the very least have a backup card, I would not even try.

By this statement I'm guessing you've never flashed a BIOS before? I realize this process is nothing like it was years ago, but you can still ruin your video card with one little mistake.

Like was stated.......Do alot of research on your own. Just because someone says this is possible? Is it really worth the risk for the minimal gains you will achieve?

Best of luck & welcome to the boards. May they be as helpful in turning you into a geek, as they have me.

When loading web pages I get a message that a script error has occured or the site will appear on the screen and then just disappear. Other sites work just fine. It's always the same sites that cause the problems. Any suggestions. This problem just started occurring.

I have succesfully done this. My Leadtek 5900xt has been running 5950u bios for about 6 months. its actually running cooler now than before. I will BM it later and let you know the speeds but i haven't experianced any issue's at all. Its made a vast improvement to the stability and saved me a small fortune.

I've been checking with a couple of people on other forum sites that hve done the same. It all seems a bit hit & miss. I guess i am lucky. Although the last 5900xt bios released for this card has also screwed up some poor soles. My advice to those people is, if it still wont work there is nothing to lose by doing it.

Where do you get these BIOS's? I have a PNY 5900SE/XT and am curious as to what the differences are between the 5900 and 5950

Actuly this is possible, but only on some XT cards. Like leadtek wich have the 2.2ns memory and are capable of running at 5950u speeds, and Gainwards golden sample(got one flashed my self running at 510/1015 clock ;). I have hurd that the core is just about the same on all the 5900serie cards and the 5950 bois puts an extra 0.2volt in it, so the only thing u have to worry about is the memory, most people say you need to get atleast 900mhz out of it with the standard bios if your going to be successful with the flash.

    Sorry for my english :(

I bios flashed my old Gainward G/S 5900 Ultra to a 5950. Ran cooler, and o/c`d way higher. It was a nice FREE upgrade. Took about 30 seconds or less. I sold it to a dude who is loving it still.
