I just sent this message to XFX's customer care, but maybe someone around here has an idea about what's going on...

"The driver CD included with my XFX GeForce 7800 GT (PCI-Express)will not recognize my graphics card. I have a DFI Lanparty UT SLI-DR mainboard and I'm running Windows XP Professional x64.

When I try to autorun the included CD or if I try to run the setup program manually, I receive the following message: "The VGA detected seems not XFX's product..."

    Please Help!"

    Thanks everyone!

Yeah - I was hoping that if maybe I found the magic drivers the XFX CD would be happy and I could download the other software on it. I'm actually going for this version:

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp64_78.01.html

since I'm running XP Pro x64.

Was getting 64-bit windows a bad idea? I admit that its the one part of my system that I didn't reasearch to death.

I missed the fact that you're running 64 bit. ;)

Using 64 bit should become easier to use as it's becoming more common.
My cous' had a lot of problems with drivers when he switched to 64 bit windows.

See, both my mainboard CD and the XFX CD have directories for 64 bit stuff, though, so I'm still worried that there's something more fundamental wrong - perhaps with the OS - and all drivers in the world won't solve my problem.

Should I update windows to the max first and then worry about getting all the drivers devices into top condition?

50% done with the driver! I hate dialup!

I tried to edit that away and post some useful information but it took me more than 5 minutes to get it done.

    Anyways:

Some more info: the Windows XP Pro x64 install process detects my card as a pretty generic-sounding "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter". I've tried removing it from the device manager and then installing drivers manually but nothing seems to change how it shows up...

Looks like I'm maybe doing the right thing - I just got a message from XFX:

    "Dear customer:

Please download driver for your OS from: www.nvidia.com; then start computer
in safe mode to install driver.

    Sincerely,

Good luck. I'm sure your problem with be resolved with the new drivers. :)

P.S. Don't give up on 64bit, it'll be worth it in the longrun. :)
