XP activation worked, but will not log in Administrator

    Installed WinXP Media Centre from shiny MS CD off a PC now melted at the recycling. Formatted HDD as NTFS. Install was OK. Phoned to activate, and that seems to have worked first time.

    Now booting up stops to ask me to activate Windows [Yes] [No].

    If no it logs Admin user off & on again.

    If yes the activation screen says its already activated and logs off & on again.

    I sense a loop here. Does anyone have experience of how to break out?

    Sounds like you got locked out. I would call them again.

    From Microsoft Answers Forum a suggestion was obtained, which failed. This attempt has now been abandoned.
