Hello you guys .. been alright for quite a while and having a look through postings so i thought i'd take the oppurtunity to ask you how i can rid myself of the annoying bubble that comes up when i go to ''all programmes'' at start. Bubble says ''Some Items cannot be displayed'' blah blah ... any ideas pls as how to give it a monumental kick... and send it to whereit deserves.. thanks in advance..

Not come across those messages TOKE but try this to disable Balloon Tips ( I used this to stop the SYS Tray balloons from poping up )

    Use TweakUI for XP

Click TaskBar and Start Menu > under Settings untick Enable Balloon Tips > Apply

    possibly may need a restart!

Hi Toke right click start / properties
click the start menu tab then customise
on the programs section change the no of items on start menu to 0, that should get rid of your baloon message

With regedit loaded up, follow this path. HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Current Version -> Explorer -> Advanced. Create an EnableBalloonTips DWORD and set its value to 0 to disable the balloons.

(to load regedit, click start, run, type regedit, press enter)

This method requires no installing of software. I use it myself.

OR to round off the methods for turning off Balloon Tips we could..........

Start > Run > type gpedit.msc > in user configuration click Administration Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar > then find Remove Balloon Tips on Start Menu and click disabled > Apply

now you have a few routes to go Toke.... similar to driving the M6 @ Birmingham :)

Hats off to the guys that handed off the diy fixes :)

Best way to learn about your OS, instead of an app doing it for you :p

Very Very true Adrynalyne that is why personally I use the registry tweaks/hacks and group policy editing to adjust and tweak my OS ( but do use TweakUI for ease ) BUT some users really dont want to get DIY so a choice of routes is a good thing IMO... then when we get to know a users abilities the DIY routes are often the most satisfying :)
