xp boot

    i have had some problems with this before but had a 98 startup disk lost it can not get xp to load up installation failed d:\I386\asms. error mesage : data eror {cyclic redundancy check}. my computer is a soyo kt-600 v-2 amd xp 3000+ 512 ram wd hard drive oem install disk spk2

    You almost certainly have a CD problem. This is a generic CD type error.


    Check your cables, check your CD Drive and check the installation CD, dirty/scratched etc.

    I notice it's failing on D: which I assume is you CD drive, 80% certain it's a bad CD, particularly if other CD's have worked on that drive.

    thanks for the little insite went along way both disk drives were on same channel and masters :rolleyes:
