I recently installed a "new" operating system by the name of XP Lite. Some guy took out a bunch of unnecessary stuff out of XP and made the it the same basic operating system, but with a bunch of garbage taken out. However, now I need to use the windows xp compatability mode, and I don't know if i can download it or something, or if I need to enable some settings somewhere. I have a install or XP home that doesnt work, but the files are still there, are there any files that I can copy from my old install into the new one to enable compatability mode?
    Thanks in advance.

My guess is that stuff like that is intertwined with the core components of the operating system and not easily added or removed. As for XP Lite, I've not heard of it, but if it isn't a product from Microsoft, most likely it is illegal since reverse engineering of software is not legal. If this is the case, I don't think anyone here can or will help you. Just install the full version with a legitimate serial key, and you will be able to use the compatibility mode.

Ok, thanks anyway. I own a a licensed copy also, but it asks me to format the entire hard drive to reinstall it, and xp lite didn't so I used xp lite instead.
XP lite is only 200 meg too. I wasnt sure whether it was illegal or not

That's illegal? MG has nlite for download(which removes components from windows) and that sounds as if it does the same thing as XP Lite.

No, if it's a program that helps you remove unnecessary stuff from Windows, then I guess not. He made it sound like it was a Windows XP install that had stuff stripped out of it. That would not be legal.

XP lite is the an install disk for xp that installs less than full Xp. It is Xp with stuff stripped out. It came like that. I got it off bittorrent, so it is probably illegal.

Right Click on a program -> Properties -> Click on the Compatibility Tab -> Choose your options.

    That should do the trick.

I'm in need of help ! I have found out that the WinXpPro that was put on my comp after a crash is a pirated version. I went out and bought a legal copy of WinXp and want to put it in. I have read that you must wipe the old version off and clean install the newer one. I have sat here for days reading and cannot find how to wipe a comp clean. Can someone tell me how as I'm not comp savy.
    Thank you for any help.
