XP crashes after I set GC AGP speed to 8X

I got radeon 9800 pro
with new catalyst drivers installed
in the bios agp speed is enabled so is fast write
however by default my AGP speed is set to off, when I change it to either 4x or 8x, then it asks me to reboot. I do so but upon log into the windows the blue screen appears as if the Drivers are asking for an illegal memmory location. This is probablly ATI's problem however it makes me think that the patch would alredy be out there if it was.
Also Microsoft says that this indeed is the device driver caused problem...
I have windows XP corp, AMD 3000+ 512 MB
any suggestions???

 

Change the AGP settings in your bios, not the driver.

Disable fast writes, you probasbly wont see any advantage, and even if you did, it would be miniscule. Better to disable it and gain stability.

 

yeah I did that man, my AGP speed is set to enabled and my fast write is disabled....

But hey thatnks you gave me the link to that ATI adapter utilities that should help me I think,
I'l mess with it and let you know..... there is a utility that updates your memmory range
