I have windows XP, and i know that when you have XP you can make the desktop icon's title be transparent. Like on your desktop where it says 'My Computer' there will be a little color box behind it, and i know there is a way to set it to where there is no color box behind the title. I've searched everywhere in appearance but just can't seem to set it the way i want it. does anyone know how to do this? thank you.

When the text under the icons on your desktop are not transparent, there are two things to check. First open System from the Control Panel, select the Advanced tab, and press the Settings button under the Performance header. Make sure that on the Visual Effects tab, the option Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop is selected.

If this still doesn't do the trick, right-click the desktop, point to Arrange Icons By and make sure that Lock Web Items on Desktop is un-checked.
