i recently installed microsoft's adware ( beta) version for a trial run.. I deleted the software after learning that i did not like it..NOW my microsoft xp firewall no longer works..I cannot activate it..It gives me a message saying ICS sharing no longer available.
What can i do to activate my personal firewall??

    Does someone have any ideas??

    Thanks

Try bringing up the command console.
(Click RUN and type "cmd" press return.)

    Then enter "Netsh winsock reset"

    Restart the computer

    Reinstall TCP/IP
(Click the Start button, and select Control Panel.
Click the Network and Internet Connections link.
    Click the Network Connections link.
Right-click your network connection, and select Properties.
    Click the Install button.
    Select Protocol.
    Click the Add button.
    Click the Have Disk button.
In the Copy Manufactuer's Files From text box, type: c:\windows\inf
    Click OK.
    Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
    Click OK.
    Close all open windows.
    Restart your computer.)

If that doesn't work, then it may be worth scanning for viruses and spyware.

I think you will find netsh winsock reset to be more effective.

Froma cmd prompt, type netsh and hit enter.

    Then type

    winsock reset

    hit enter.

    Follow instructions.
