Do you have your OS CD? You will need to get into the bios ( often F12 or delete ) on start up and set the system to boot to the cd first. ( Tab in bios for boot order ). Then you can restart with the cd in the drive and get into the recovery console.

Sorry, but you need to change the boot up order when in the bios. Make your cd player the first boot device. Then you should be able to boot to your XP cd and do a repair install.

The only hit I get for ochi86 sys error is your post. Apparently no one has ever gotten this error. Now if it is achi86.sys that tells us you have a SATA drive and need to install drivers before you attempt to install XP.

Pressing alt+F10 will get to the hidden Aspire 3053 partition BUT if you restore it this way, please be very aware that everything goes back to factory condition which means all your files will be gone and will not be able to be recovered. So this is a last ditch effort to get the computer usable again.

Where did you get this install disc? Is the disc clean? No scratches on it?

That may well be the reason it is skipping files. You could try polishing it with a little toothpaste across the scratches.

Just try leaving the password blank if you never set one.
