    Okay, Here we go...

Client has a Laptop running XP Home SP2.

Laptop is a Toshiba. Not Sure of Model Number.

User connects to the LAN by Wire, and Can successfully pull an IP address from the DHCP Server, but he cannot seruf the internet.

Now I've checked everything that I can think of, Reset IE Security Settings, done a DNS flush, etc.

Also have run the WinSock Fix utility to no avail.

    Any Ideas??

Does the DHCP server give out IP addresses for the ISP DNS server ?
Does the DHCP server give out IP address for the default gateway ?
What happens if the client tries to do a tracert to the ISP DNS server ?

what about trying another browser? what about your connections tab? is it set to never dial a connection? i'm assuming (might be dumb of me to ask), that the port connection is enabled. also, what about your firewall settings? could it accidentally (sp), be blocking ie? is there only xp's firewall?

i ran across this today on microsofts site. maybe look into the cable issue?

sorry, if any of my questions seem dumb, just trying to help. - sos
