I have a dell 2400 cpu that I downloaded IE7 and had a fatal error happen. Someone told me to do a repair and I tryed and messed something up :cry ..
I was wondering if I can get into it somewhere and change it back to the OEM xp install? I have noticed that there are 2 partitions and was thinking the first one is the oem? I have tryed so many ways to uninstall this last install and it just wont let me ( im lost ) and very sick for what I cant get back because I dont know how to create a back up. You can bet if I do get this info back I will learn. Thank you for any help..

Contact Dell and purchase a recovery CD/DVD. Not sure which of the two they carry because you did not mention the model.

Some Dells come with hidden partitions that will revert to the factory condition.
You need to be more specific than
because no one can guess what you did.

Where my problem started was I d/l IE7 Then I got a fatal error on restart.

    STOP:C000021A fatal system error
The Windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000142 (0x00000000 0x00000000)
The system has been shut down.

I have installed the xp cd to do a repair and ended up pressing something wrong and did an install.

    its a dell demention 2400

Im not sure what other info you may need but I can get it..

Was this the one that came with your Dell?
At this point your only option, provided it was the cd that came with your Dell is to do everything again. Of course all your previous files and documents are gone because your username is gone.
